The team of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan headed by the Minister Farid Abdulganiev and representatives of Tatar Branch of the Russian Geographical Society participated in the rafting along the river Ilet' that started in Vysokaya Gora district in Naratlyk village. "I would say that the aim of this let's say ecological expedition is not only to study and develop new possible touristic routes, but, first of all, to study and evaluate the quality of water bodies of Tatarstan. We inspected the shores of the Ilet' to reveal littered sites of the coastal area, although, fortunately, we didn't reveal many of those. We plan on continuing this tactics in the future as well. Tatarstan is a region abundant in water with unique beautiful nature. The Ilet' River is one of the most ecologically clean afluents of the Volga River running for about 220 km. Water routes of the floatable Ilet' are optimal for the beginning amateurs of water tourism", acknowledged the Minister for Ecology Farid Abdulganiev. The river bed is mostly sandy with gently sloping coasts overgrown with coniferous-deciduous forest. Depending on the site, the stream velocity varies from 3 to 6 km/hour. Along its entire length, the river almost doesn't freeze during winter owing to the mineral sprigs feeding it. Press Service of the Ministry
