State inspectors will carry out special campaigns to eliminate violations on the coastal areas

The Year of Water Protection Areas was discussed today in Tatarstan at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Protection and nature conservation areas of Tatar rivers, beautification of the territories of coastal bands, creation of favorable conditions for the development of water protection areas, as well as assurance of public access to water bodies and improvement of the quality of surface areas – these are the key tasks, the accomplishment whereof is planned within the framework of the Year of Water Protection Areas, acknowledged today the Minister for Ecology, Farid Abdulganiev. The 2nd meeting of the Steering Committee for preparation and holding of the Year of Water Protection Areas was held today at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan. The work is already actively carried out in all directions. Intermediate results were reviewed and discussed today during the meeting. "Purification facilities of industrial companies do not provide for specified purification of sewage waters", Liliya Gaynutdinova, Deputy Head of the Department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage, identified enhancement of efficacy of treatment facilities and their construction with the use of highly efficient technologies for purification of sewage waters as one of the tasks. Deputy Head of the Executive Committee of Kazan - Chairperson of the External Beautification Committee, Igor Kulyazhev, reported on favorable examples of work in this direction. Three new purification plants have been put into operation and function as normal at urban-drainage networks that discharge waste into water bodies - they have outputs into Lake Kaban, the Kazanka River and the Noksa River. Moreover, 9 modern purification facilities will be put into operation in Kazan in the nearest future. The report of the Deputy Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan – Chief State Inspector of the Republic of Tatarstan for the Environment Protection, Fayaz Shakirov, was devoted to te results of the regional state ecological surveillance over the state of water protection areas of water bodies. Over Q1 of this year, inspectors of the Ministry of Ecology revealed 796 violations of the requirements to the water protection legislation (536 - for the whole period of 2015). The amount of fines made up more than 4 million rubles. Special attention is paid to discharge of sewage waters without purification or with exceedance of pollutants. This is one of the reasons for pollution of surface waters in the Republic of Tatarstan, informed Fayaz Shakirov. A great number of violations are revealed based on the facts of movement and parking of motor vehicles in the water protection areas and unauthorized use of the water body, or with regard to the violations of the terms of use. The Minister, Farid Abdulganiev, said that the supervisory authorities need to enhance work on prevention of the indicated violations. "In the height of summer, the majority of citizens prefer to spend leisure time near water bodies, and due to this fact the amount of violations of water protection legislation increases. In order to prevent such events and inform the population, the state inspectrs will hold special campaigns in the2 nearest future", said the Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Farid Abdulganiev.
