The solemn opening of the III Republican Field Olympiad of Young Geologists was held in Almetyevsk

A solemn opening ceremony of the III Republican Open Field Olympiad of Young Geologists of Tatarstan was held today at the children's recreation camp "Druzhba" in Almetyevsk Municipal District with participation of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov. Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Ecology - Head of the Federal Agency for Subsurface Use, Evgeny Kiselev, Deputy Minister for Energetics of the Russian Federation, Kirill Molodtsov, the Minister for Education and Science of Tatarstan, Engel Fettakhov, the Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Farid Abdulganiev, as well as Director General of Tatneft PJSC, Nail Maganov, participated in the event. The Olympiad is held on July 11-17 to find talented children and help them in professional self-determination and to advocate the best traditions of the geological science. A total of 5 teams from Tatarstan participate in the Olympiad together with a team from Bakhchisaray district of the Republic of Crimea and a team from Ust-Kamenogorsk, the Republic of Kazakhstan. A training course for young geologists is envisaged within the framework of a specialized session to teach them the basics of field camping, heavy mineral concentrate sampling, petroleum geology and etc. They also participate in competitions and contests on mineralogy, paleontology, and radiometry.
