A touristic recreation zone was opened today at the site of a city lake in Almetyevsk after large-scale reconstruction with participation of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikanov. The Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Farid Abdulganiev, visited the facility. The project of the recreation zone forms part of the program of the Year of water protection areas. "Tatarstan is one of the most water-abundant regions of the federal district, and our aim is make unique natural areas available for public recreation. We have about 8 thousand of lakes in our Republic. It is important to create such conditions so that the citizens will be able to use all these assets without harming the nature. Water resources are indicative of the well-being of any territory, while their state, their quality, extent and modes of use determine our life along with the state of flora and fauna", acknowledged Farid Abdulganiev. The work was carried out on potting of dumb wells and liquidation of pipes in Petukhovka village through which sewage drains were flowing, informed the Minister. Water was sampled here many times, and the latest analyses show that nothing is any longer discharged into the lake. "Maximum acceptable concentrations haven't been exceeded, and water complies with sanitary and hygienic standards", informed the Specialized Inspection for Analytical Control under the South-Eastern Territorial Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan. In order to clean the water body and saturate it with oxygen (which promotes oxygenation of heavy metals) and to prevent the water body from "turning green", an original strain of single-cell green microalgae Chlorella vulgaris will be applied in the city lake. Thus, all the pathogenic flora will be destroyed.

The Head of Almetyevsk, Ayrat Khayrullin, said that this unique recreation zone has no analogues not only in the Republic, but in the whole country in general. "We hope that the municipal recreation zone will not only become a favorite place for the citizens of Almetyevsk, but a new sightseeing that will allow to increase the flow of Russian tourists", emphasized the Head of Almetyevsk.

Playgrounds for children were created in the new park along with grounds for volleyball, a climbing wall, an adventure park, a center to rent a tween-deck, places for recreation and a cafe on the shore of the lake. A professional wake-park was also created to engage people in cable wakeboarding - it is an actively developing water sports.
