"Clean air" campaign Motor transportation of Tatarstan is inspected for compliance with ECO standards

30 June 2016, Thursday

The "Clean air" campaign started in Tatarstan a month ago. Over this period, ecological specialists of the Republic inspected about 800 cars, whereof 60 don't comply with the required emission limit values. Another joint campaign of the Department of the State Road Traffic Safety Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Tatarstan and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan was held today at the Police Control Point "Malinovka" (Verkhny Uslon district). Using a gas detection analyzer "AUTOTEST", inspectors of the Ministry of Ecology carried out instrumental control over the content of pollutants (toxicity and smokiness) in exhaust gases of motor vehicles. "We pay special attention to inspection of exhaust gases for the presence of substances contained in marine fuel, acknowledged Almaz Ismagilov (Deputy Head of the Central Territorial Department under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan), exhaust gases contain several dozens of pollutants, including carbon oxide, hydrocarbon blend, carbon soot, sulfur dioxide, ammonia, nitric oxides, and formaldehyde. In car exhausts where marine fuel is used, the content of these harmful substances is exceeded by tenfold". Today, ecological specialists drew up a series of protocols under Article 8.23 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation "Operation of mechanical transportation means with exceedance of the limits of pollutants in exhausts or the noise level limits". The amount of fine makes up 500 rubles.

The amount of pollutants discharged into the atmosphere from motor vehicles depends on several factors:

 - road traffic arrangement (development of the systems of automated road traffic systems, construction of transport junctions, transfer of cars to the natural gas etc.);

- the quality of motor fuel ("TAIF-NK" and "TANEKO" OJSC have been producing and selling diesel fuel of K5 ecological class in Tatarstan for several years now).

- technical state of transport vehicles themselves.

A total of 6,160 cars were inspected during 2015 within the framework of the given activities at companies of the Republic and at the Republican roads, whereof 893 cars (or 14.5%) (in 2014, 16.5%) did not comply with the required limits of pollutants in exhausts.

The "Clean air" campaign will last in Tatarstan until September 30th.
