A campaign for collection of energy-saving lamps and batteries "Let's save a hedgehog!" will be held in Kazan

4 June 2016, Saturday

The World Environment Protection Day will be celebrated on June 5th at the Museum of Natural History of Tatarstan, the "Kazan Kremlin" Reserve Museum. A campaign for collection of energy-saving lamps and batteries "Let's save a hedgehog!" will be held on this day. Special containers will be placed at the entrance to the museum for the guests to put fluorescent lamps and batteries. Every guest will be able to participate in the campaign "Let's save a hedgehog!" and thus make a contribution into nature preservation, and those who bring more than 1 kg of batteries will receive a souvenir from the museum.

It is no coincidence that the campaign was named this way - it is known that one battery can pollute with heavy metals the territory sufficient for one hedgehog to live. When such batteries get onto the soil, they release heavy metals, which makes the soil unfit for the living of animals. That is why they require special recycling.

Moreover, a scientific and educational show "Amusive ecology" will be held at the museum, where the audience will find out why plastic dishware can be dangerous, why we shouldn't throw away PE bags and batteries and many other things. It is planned to start the event at 1 pm, as it is reported by the Press Service of the "Kazan Kremlin" Reserve Museum.
