A report on a large-scale landfill in the water protection area of Sredny Kaban Lake and on the territory of the new Square Garden of Vakhitov in Kazan was received by inspectors through the "School eco-patrol" and "People's control" systems. Today, ecological specialists, students of the reserve-officer training department of Kazan National Research Technological University, students and teachers of Kazan Polytechnical College, representatives of administrations of Vakhitovsky and Privolzhsky districts of Kazan carried out a large-scale cleaning campaign, and by joining the efforts, they cleaned from litter the coastal area of the water protection area of Kaban Lake and the territory of the Square Garden of Vakhitov. The large-scale campaign was joined by the Deputy Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan - Chief State Inspector for Nature Protection, Fayaz Shakirov. "This year, special attention is paid to the water bodies of the Republic. So we decided to join the efforts and put into order the territory of the water protection area of Kaban Lake", acknowledged Fayaz Shakirov. - "Activity of the citizens of our Republic is worth noting. For instance, more than 220 notifications were received through the "People's Control" system during the first month of the two-month sanitary and ecological campaign, and more than 1,100 reports were received through the "School eco-patrol" system. It is twofold more as compared to the analogous period of last year". He expressed his gratitude to all the participants of the campaign for caring attitude to nature and the native city, and he acknowledged that today's task is not only to put the territory into adequate sanitary state, but to also promote ecological education of the young generation. All in all, more than 60 persons participated in the event. More than 80 bags of litter were collected and removed. "Cleanliness of our city depends not only one the services that clean and beautify it, but also on the culture and respectful attitude of those who live here", acknowledged participants of the cleaning campaign urging all the citizens of Kazan to participate in Saturday work campaigns and nature protection campaigns.
