20 April 2016, Wednesday

Inspectors of the South-Eastern Territorial Department under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan registered discharge of exhaust oil on to the local landscape in the water protection area of unnamed spring on Montazhnaya street in Almetyevsk. By the moment of inspection, fellow workers of one of the companies in Almetyevsk managed to cover the site of discharge with construction sand. Nevertheless, ecological specialists managed to estimate the area of soil pollution (70 m2) and the volume of discharged waste (2 m3). Specialized Inspection for Analytical Control under the South-Eastern Territorial Department drew soil samples around the perimeter of the fault area to do the tests. The damage inflicted on nature will be estimated by ecological specialists.

Administrative proceedings were initiated according to part 2 of Article 8.6 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Destruction of the fertile soil layer, as well as damage to the lands inflicted as a result of violation of the rules of handling of pesticides, agricultural chemicals, and other substances and consumption/production wastes hazardous for human health and the environment"), and Article 8.2 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Failure to comply with ecological and sanitary&epidemiological requirements in the course of management of production and consumption waste, the substances destroying the ozone layer, as well as other hazardous substances").
