Plastic bottles from the "Locomotive" beach will "get a second chance" The waste collected in the framework of a large-scale campaign will be used for recycling

More than a hundred students, volunteers, proponents of ecological movements held a large-scale cleaning campaign today in Kazan on the territory of the "Locomotive" beach. The nature protection campaign is organizedby public organization "Youth of Kazan" under the aegis of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan. It is worth noting that the waste collected in the framework of the event will be used for recycling. Within one hour, active participants of the campaign removed 50 bags of litter from the beach, whereof 20 bags contained PE bottles. Today's large-scale campaign was joined by the Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Farid Abdulganiev, and the Chairperson for Children and Youth Affairs of the Executive Committee of Kazan, Sergey Mironov. "Participation in ecological campaigns can promote revival of the tradition in upbringing of labor and ecological culture of the population, social responsibility of pupils for cleanliness at the place of residence, as well as fusion of the initiatives of citizens, organizations and state authorities to protect the environment, acknowledged Farid Abdulganiev. - It is good to know that the first joint large-scale Wednesday work campaign was held by the City Hall representatives, higher educational establishments, secondary specialized educational establishments, and public organizations in a water protection area", noted the Minister. According to him, favorable dynamics is observed this year with regard to holding of Wednesday and Saturday work campaigns in the Republic of Tatarstan. "Many districts had started cleaning long before the two-month sanitary and ecological campaign started in the Republic of Tatarstan; Kazan, Verkhny Uslon and Zelenodolsk districts did a good job, and day after day we receive reports on the events related to the cleaning of territories from all cities and districts of Tatarstan, so with full confidence we can affirm that the main work will have been completed by May holidays", emphasized the Minister for Ecology.  He also reminded that the contests are held in the Republic for the most active participants of ECOspring in the following categories: "Eco-School", "Eco-higher educational institution/secondary specialized educational institution", "Eco-family", "Eco-company". The most active municipal unit will not be neglected either. "We aim not only at identification of the best, but also at the application of their practical skills in the years to come for even more efficient work", informed Farid Abdulganiev.
