About 100 young people joined the ranks of ecological experts of Tatarstan

Young people with pro-active attitude that are not indifferent to nature gathered today inside the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstanto participate in the training and ask the questions of interest with regard to the legal framework of the activity of public inspectors for nature protection.All in all, about 100 proponents of the youth eco-movement have been involved in the training that was held in the mode of a video conferencewith territorial departments of the Ministry. Each of them received an identification card of a public inspector that will expire in 1 year.

           The Institute of Public Inspectors was revivedin 2014. Their activity has already showed itself to good advantage. According to the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Farid Abdulganiev, in 2015 about 10% of the offences in the field of natureprotection legislation of the Republic was revealed owing to their work – “it is a very good indicator and great help rendered to the state inspectors of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan… Last year we didn’t have high-profile cases pertaining to violations in the nature protection field, and this year we can also see that public inspectors are doing their job. Preventative measures are worth more than gold”,added the Minister.

           Public inspectors are voluntary assistants of state inspectors working under their aegis who inform on ecological offences and assume responsibilityfor the provided information.Becoming a public inspector is based on a “social and voluntary decision, – informed the Minister. – Of course, we will award the best of the best – we will hold a contest, we will summarize the results and give out presents. But as you can see, the young people came not for the prizes – they would like to help us solve one major task”.

           Assistance in the work of state inspectors is the best recommendation for such young people to get work in this field in the future. For instance, following the results of work over the last years, several public inspectors have already become full-time employees of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan.The aim of the Ministry is to appoint one public inspector for each village of the Republic.

           It is symbolic that the young people received their identification cards on the threshold of the two-month sanitary and ecological campaign for cleaning the territories, which is held this year under the slogan “Cleanliness in the soul means cleanliness all around”.Within two months it is planned to bring theterritory of the Republic into compliance with the requirements of the sanitary and ecological safety. “Obtainment of an identification card means both responsibility and liability, added the Minister. – I am sure they will do their best. We count on their help”.This year the two-month campaign is distinguished by close attention to water bodies and their water protection areas.

           The information on campaigns and results of the movement in the framework of a two-month sanitary and ecological campaign will be placed in social media under the hashtag #ecospring2016.
