An ecological holiday “The World Water Day” was held in Kazan

The ecological holiday “World Water Day” was held today in Kazan at the Youth Center “Ak Bars”.The event started for the pupils of Kazan with an opening speech of Head of the Departmentof Ecological Education and Interaction with Public Organizations under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Damir Valiullin. He told the pupils about the history of the Water Day, and about water resources of our Republic.The theme of the ecological holiday was supported by the Chairperson of the Regional Department of the Russian Geographical Society in the Republic of Tatarstan, Dmitry Shiller. He acknowledged that many joint events are planned with the Ministry of Ecology for the summer 2016 including monitoring of sunk vessels, as well as various ecological researches, and etc.In the framework of the World Water Day, the photo-exhibition of the underwater team of the Russian Geographical Society named after Alexey Leonov was opened. The members of the team presented photos from expeditions when they set the world records – “The pole of Cold”, “Antarctic-100”, “The Subarctic of Russia”, and “The Arctic Circle”. The second part included demonstration of underwater researches: underwater work, and work with Russiansubmarine breathing equipment. The members of the research team shared the experience of scientific work in the most extreme places of our planet. Moreover, the pupils got a chance to dive and become for some time a diver.
