The Earth Day

The Earth Day is celebrated on March 20th all around the world. The holiday was declared by the UN General Secretary in March 1971. It is celebrated every year on the day of vernal equinox. Traditionally, on this day the Bell of the World tolls. In 1990, this day was announced the day of the international campaign where 200 people from 141 countries took part. By 2000, the participants of the campaign already amounted to hundreds of millions of people from 180 countries. Various events and campaigns are organized on this day including conferences, exhibitions, road closure on busy streets of large cities, territory cleaning, and planting of trees.

         The main aim of this world campaign is to attract attentionof the society and each person to the problems of the Earth and the environment.
