The World Wildlife Day is a new holiday adopted by the UN General Assembly in December 2013. The day of celebration was chosen owing to another event — the famous Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora adopted on March 3, 1973 that bans the trade of disappearing flora and fauna species. The main aim of the holidayis to turn attention of citizens and authorities to the beauty and diversity of the wild nature, and to remind one more time about the importanceof careful attitude to what can permanently disappear from the Earth. All in all, more than 28 thousand of plants and more than 5 thousand of fauna species are now being protected. Moreover, the holiday urges again to turn attention to the growing problem ofpoaching that year after year destroys priceless wildlife inhabitants for instantaneous profit.
