Ecological specialists familiarized with nature protection activity of Kazan Central Heating and Power Plant-2

Today, the delegation of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan headed by the Minister Farid Abdulganiev, as well as representatives of the Department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage for the Republic of Tatarstan, the Department of theFederal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing for the Republic of Tatarstan, and Kazan Executive Committee familiarized with the manufacturing process for the generation of electric and heat energy at the subsidiary of the “Generating Company” OJSC of Kazan Central Heating and Power Plant-2 and the nature protection activity of the company. The delegation was accompanied by Deputy Director General–Chief Technology Officer ofthe “Generating Company” OJSC, Ilgizar Gayfullin, and Director ofKazan Central Heating and Power Plant-2, Radik Galiullin.

         Members of the delegation familiarized with nature protection activitycarried out by Kazan Central Heating and Power Plant-2 in the last 5 years, in particular, modernization of the process of water treatment with implementation of the state-of-art “membrane” technologies; reclamation of Kirovash-disposal area; construction ofthe stormwater drainage with treatment facilities on the premises ofKazan Central Heating and Power Plant-2 and a boiler-house “Savinovo”.

         The delegation showed a special interest incombined cycle gas turbine units (CCGT units), put into operation in2014, the chimneys whereof are equipped with automatic sensors for the monitoring of pollutants in exhaust gases. The emission rate pertaining to CCGT units is considerably lower as compared to conventional blocks, while their high efficiency ensures not only money-saving use of natural resources, but also decrease in the total amount of pollutants due to less fuel combustion.

         Farid Abdulganiev acknowledged positive trends in the work ofKazan Central Heating and Power Plant-2 pertaining to the solution of ecological problems, and he expressed hope for the cooperation between nature protection authorities of the Republic and management ofthe “Generating Company” OJSC in the field of air protection, including online exchange of data on ecological monitoringin the framework of the elaborated draft Agreement on cooperation between the Ministry and the “Generating Company” OJSC in the fieldof environmental protection.
