A lesson on efficient use of energy and resources was held today for the students of Kazan State Energy University

The “Lesson on energy conservation” was held today at the Center of competences and technologies for the efficient use of energy and its conservation in the Republic of Tatarstan for the students of Kazan State Energy University and winners of Kazan academic competition on ecology. Chairperson of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, Farid Mukhametshin, addressed the students. He acknowledged that, traditionally, the Government of the Republic of Tatarstanpays great attention to the matters regarding ecological education of the young generation. According to First Deputy Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustem Kamalov, Tatarstan takes one of the leading positions among constituent entities of the Russian Federation with regard to the efficient use of energy and resources at the system and software levels. In particular, this implies minimization ofunit costs of primary resources; maximum use of secondary andrenewable resources; and decrease in man-induced impact on the environment. Rustem Kamalov mentioned as an example the achievements of such large industrial companies as TANEKO, where current technologies for purification of sewage waters ensure recovery of 75-80%,as well as nature protection activity of the plants of Nizhnekamsk industrial hub. He told about implementation of the long-term target program“Energy conservation and enhancement of energy efficiencyin the Republic of Tatarstan for 2011 - 2015 and in the long run up to 2020”, and he urged everyone to support the “Earth Hour” campaign.

The Lesson was held in the framework of the “Russian ecology” project that is implemented in the Republic of Tatarstan under the auspices of the Regional Office of theAll-Russian Political Party “Edinaya Rossiya” (“United Russia”)and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan.  The main aim of the project is to create a complex approach to the task of improvement of environment qualityand ecological living conditions of a human being.
