11 December 2015, Friday

A bus on gas and motor fuel was presented today in Nizhnekamsk to the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Farid Abdulganiev. An onsite trip of the Interdepartmental Institutional Working group for ecological safety assurance under Nizhnekamsk industrial nod was held there today. Farid Abdulganiev acknowledged that one of the ways to decrease discharges into the air is to transfer motor vehicles to eco-friendly types of fuel, and, first of all, to compressed natural gas. “General gross discharges of pollutants from motor vehicles make up more than a half of the total volume of discharges in the Republic of Tatarstan, - reminded the Minister for Ecology, - a task is now set to direct the efforts to decrease these indicators. It is worth noting that special attention is paid to the issues of improvement of the life quality, as well as safety assurance, where ecological issues is not the least problem – as it was stated in the message of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov to the State Council of the Republic, - emphasized Farid Abdulganiev. He acknowledged that the State Program “Development of the market of gas and motor fuel in the Republic of Tatarstan for 2013-2023” is being implemented in the Republic. The task of this program is to ensure modernization of material and technical base of motor transportation and to create conditions for the prioritized use of compressed natural gas as motor fuel. In the framework of this program 110 buses on gas-motor fuel were received by transportation companies of Nizhnekamsk, which allowed to decrease discharges into the air by more than 100 tons per year. The Minister for Ecology acknowledged that the Strategy of social and economic development of the Republic of Tatarstan up to 2023 stipulates that assurance of ecological safety is one of characteristics of successful development of the region. “A great amount of large industrial companies is concentrated in Nizhnekamsk, and that’s why solution of this matter becomes even more important”, acknowledged Farid Abdulganiev. He emphasized efficiency of the Interdepartmental working group for ecological safety assurance and the achieved results. In particular, construction in 2007 of the water purification station, decrease by the companies of the industrial nod of the total volume of discharges into the air, elaboration of the Project of the single sanitary and protection zone of Nizhnekamsk industrial nod and the single volume for maximum allowable emissions in Nizhnekamsk (which allowed to define specific companies that are the reason of increased gas contamination of the atmosphere), planting of trees in sanitary and protection area of the industrial nod with total area of about 800 ha, and involuntary resettlement of citizens from the sanitary and protection zone of the industrial hub and others.

During the work of the Interdepartmental working group (starting 2006), the companies of the industrial nod ensured decrease of the total amount of emissions of pollutants into the air by 30 thousand tons. Despite putting of “TANEKO” into commission and development of other productions on the territory of the nod, total annual discharge of emissions in Nizhnekamsk decreased from 90 to 60 thousand tons.
