Possible cooperation with the Republic of Finland in the field of reclamation of polluted lands using modern methods that don’t require ground excavation was discussed at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan. First Deputy Minister Rustem Kamalov met with the representative of the Lahti Region Development Center “LADEC”, Banafa Salem, who acknowledged that Russia is a strategic partner of the Republic of Finland with two very active regions, i.e. the Republic of Tatarstan and St. Petersburg (work with water and wastewater treatment plants of St. Petersburg on reconstruction of treatment facilities and sludge burning). Banafa Salem told in detail about the good practices related to the work on inspection of damaged lands and evaluation of ecology-related risks. Moreover, the projects on the reclamation of damaged lands were discussed, particularly those implying the use of biotechnical methods, in situ technologies with due account for the terrain features.
