On the threshold of the World Recycling Day the Minister for Ecology visited a collection center

Citizens of Kazan can deliver carton, paper, plastic bottles and even empty containers from household cleaning products to the waste recycling centers for remuneration. The centers for collection of recyclable materials “Chistaya sreda” (Clean environment) appeared on city streets. On the threshold of the World Recycling Day the Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Farid Abdulganiev, visited one of such collection centers. Here recyclable materials get sorted, weighed, pressed and prepared for the delivery to the waste processing plant. “When we opt for separate collection and sorting of waste, we solve two tasks at the same time, - acknowledged the Minister for Ecology, – first of all, we unload our landfills to the fullest extent possible, since up to 20% of the waste can be recycled, and, secondly, we gain profit.  Repeated use of raw materials means return to the economics. And such collection centers should become the first element in the chain of collection, sorting, processing and obtainment of recyclable materials in order to use it for production of new products. As a result, all of us derive profit: population, society in general, and the environment. The figures speak for themselves: during one day such a collection center sorts and delivers for processing 1.5 tons of waste. And it is also worth mentioning that after talking to citizens I came to a conclusion that many people bring waste paper and plastic here not only to get remuneration, but also to make their contribution into nature preservation”. Moreover, Farid Abdulganiev emphasized that it is important to install such containers taking into consideration all the requirements of the citizens of Kazan and all municipal units of the Republic. The collection centers should be located within walking distance, their working hours should be convenient, and their work should be oriented towards a modern citizen of a large city. At present, there are two centers in Kazan – on 9 Mavlyutova str. and 72 Fuchika str.

The World Recycling Day is celebrated on November 15th. The main tasks of the recycling imply solution of the problem of limited resources, decrease in the cost of the end products on the account of cheaper raw materials, and the struggle against environmental pollution.
