The “Ecological expedition” along small rivers of the Republic of Tatarstan initiated by the local branch of the Russian Geographical Society in Chistopol was held on August 3 – 6, 2015 in Tatarstan. In the framework of the project, the youth underwater and research team of the Russian Geographical Society accomplished the float by catamaran ships along such rivers as Sheshma, Prost, and Kama. The float started on August 3 in Novosheshminsk village. On August 6, participants of the “Ecological expedition” were met in Chistopol by fellow workers of the Volga Kama Territorial Department under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan. All the participants of the expeditions were awarded with certificates of merit, letters of gratitude on behalf of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The campaign on cleaning of the coastal area of the Kama River from litter was held at the finish by fellow workers of the Ministry of Ecology together with representatives of the Russian Geographical Society and ecological movement “BUDETCHISTO”. More than 200 people participated in the cleaning campaign, and about 30m³ of litter were removed.
The project is devoted to the Year of water protection areas of the Volga and Kama rivers that will be held in 2016 on the initiative of the Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The “Ecological expedition” is implemented together with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, public movement “Together with the President”, municipal authorities of Chistopol and Novosheshminsk districts in order to attract public attention to the problems of ecological state of rivers and to establish the culture for appropriate nature use, to form ecological culture among young people, to study the matters related to pollution of small rivers and to attract attention to the problems of ecological state of the coastal areas of water facilities of the Republic of Tatarstan.
