An annual international campaign “Earth Hour” will be held this year on March 28th at 9:30 pm local time.The event is held by the World Wildlife Fundeach year on last Saturday of March.The campaign symbolizes solidarity of citizens of various countries in solution of issues regarding energy and resource saving, improvement of ecological situation on the planetary scale.
State authorities of the Republic of Tatarstan, companies and organizations, as well as population of the Republic were invited to join the campaign and switch offfor one hour architectural and decorative highlighting of buildings, constructions, as well as illumination of residential facilities, and electrical devices that are not related tohuman life safety assurance, and to implement other measures aimed at decrease of energy consumption.
In2014,architectural and decorative highlighting of the Reserve Museum “Kazan Kremlin” in Kazan was switched offduring the campaign including residency of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan–Government Palace,Syuyumbike tower, the Kul Sharif mosque,the Annunciation Cathedral and other constructions of the ensemble, buildings of the Cabinet of Ministers of theRepublic of Tatarstan and the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan. Moreover, illumination of one of the largestin Europe and in the world media facades of the stadium “Kazan-Arena” was also switched off. Kazan Town Hall also joined the campaign having switched off illumination of buildings of district administrations and Kazan City Hall. Population of all municipal formations and more than 400 companies, organizations, ministries, authorities and establishments of the Republic participated in the campaign.As a result of the campaign “Earth Hour”, saved energy amounted to160 MWt.
