Ecological specialists revealed a site of unauthorized development of commonly occurring mineral resources

Inspectors of the State Inspection for Ecological Surveillance under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan implemented fact-finding measures regarding illegal developmentof commonly occurring mineral resources. A raid was conducted on January 14, 2015 based on the information received from citizens via Ministry’s hotline on illegal quarry development in Aviastroitelny district.
From 10 pm to 12 am, fellow workers of the Ministryregistered plate numbers and makes of 9 trucks loaded with commonly occurring mineral resources, namely, sand. The site of sand unloading was revealed by fellow workers of the state inspection as a result of operational escorting of loaded trucks. Fellow workers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan were called to the location to carry out the workjointly. All in all, 4 trucks were stopped for inspection while leaving the site of quarry development, whereof 1 truck was loaded with sand, and 3 trucks were empty. Following the results of the inspection it was revealed that the sand was dumped on the road. A new road cleared from snow was detected at the site of illegal quarry development together with fellow workers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs; according to preliminary data, a shoveling machine anda loader fled the scene and later were stopped by police officers when leaving the neighboring village. The drivers had to write explanatory reports. The work on identification of persons implicated in the crime is carried out.
In order to detect sites of illegal quarry development more operatively, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan implemented several e-services – citizens’ addresses are received via e-mail and mobile communication devicesthat ensure feedback of population, at 267-68-67 (Hotline) andeco.signal@tatar.ru. It is necessary to register make and plate number of equipment used at the quarry, precise work area with reference to specific orienting points, time and date of registration, and contact information. Anonymity is guaranteed.
