A meeting of the interdepartmental working group on assurance of ecological safety of the Nizhnekamsk industrial hub

The Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Artem Sidorov and the Head of Nizhnekamsk Municipal DistrictAydar Metshin discussed the measures and events that are implemented in the frameworkof the Republican long-term target program “Environmental protection in NizhnekamskMunicipal District”. A meeting of the interdepartmental working group on assurance of ecological safety was held in Nizhnekamsk on August 25, 2014. During the meeting, the members of the working groupreviewed two issues – a new ecological program of “Nizhnekamskneftekhim” OJSC for2014-2020,nature protection events of “TAIF-NK” OJSC and implementation of the technology for motor fuel vapor recuperation.
Today, the air quality of Nizhnekamsk is monitored at 4 automatic air pollution control stations. In compliance with a schedule, a mobile analytical laboratory mounted on a vehicle“FORDTransit” moves around the city, automatically estimating the air parameters. The data from control stations and a mobile laboratory are conveyed in the online mode to the monitoring center of the Ministry of Ecology. In addition to the automated system, a modern laboratory of chemical and analytical control functions in Nizhnekamsk. On a day-to-day basis the experts of the laboratorydraw and analyze air samplesinthe busy points of the city. The Ministry of Ecology and the Departmentof theFederal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage carry out regular inspections of the companies that allow to prevent violations of the nature protection legislation. According to the Minister of Ecology, the problem of cleaning of household and industrial sewage waters is the one to remain unsolved. Moreover, there are questions with regard to exploitation ofthemunicipal storm drainage. In the next five years it is planned to carry out capital reconstruction of treatment facilities of “Nizhnekamskneftekhim” OJSC, which will allow to stopdischarge of raw waste waters into the river Kama. Reconstruction of the operating landfill has already been started.
Moreover, during the meeting of the working commission it was suggested that a public council for ecological matters be organized in Nizhnekamskto include representatives of all municipal companies in order to quickly solve all the matters regarding ecological safety of Nizhnekamsk.
