The matters regarding regulation of water level in water storages of the Lower Volga basin located on the territory of Tatarstan were discussed today in Kazan

Today, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov met with the Head of the Lower Volga Basin Water Management Board, Anatoly Bykov,and Deputy Chairpersonof the Government of Astrakhan region, Oleg Polumordvinov. The Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Artem Sidorov, participated in the meeting as well. Participants of the event discussed the matters regarding regulation of the water level in water storages of the Lower Volga basin located on the territory of Tatarstan.The Prime Minister of Tatarstan, Ildar Khalikov, acknowledged that when it comes to the rational use of water resources it is important to consider interestsof all the entities concerned, and that the Lower Volga BasinWater Management Boardplays an important role in mutual regulation of all such interests.
Discussion of matters continued at Kazan Town Hall during theXImeeting ofthe Basin Board. During his welcome speech, the Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Artem Sidorov, especially emphasized the work of the UNIDO Center for International Industrial Cooperation in the Russian Federation in the framework of the project“Revelation, evaluation and gradation of the foci of pollution in basins of cross-border water facilities, as well as transfer of eco-friendly technologies, the purpose whereof is to enhance water quality and decrease the negative impact of industrial activity on the regional level and in the cross-borderarea to the extent of the basin of the Middle and Lower Volgaby implementation of an integrated approach of UNIDO with regard to the transferof an eco-friendly technology aimed at enhancement of ecological performance of the work of companies.Experts of water resources departments for Samara, Ulyanovsk, Saratov, Astrakhan, Volgograd, Orenburg regions, the Republic of Kalmykia and others participated in the work of the Board.
