20 January 2026, Tuesday

A meeting of the joint board of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan was held in Kazan. At the end of the meeting, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Kamilievich Nigmatullin, made a concluding speech.

He noted that 2025 was a year of significant practical results and strengthening of the Republic's international authority in the field of ecology for the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan. Rustam Nigmatullin drew attention to two key achievements demonstrating the scale of the agency's work: the international conference on the conservation of the snow leopard and the status of a leader in the conservation of water resources, namely the primacy in the "Water of Russia" campaign.

"These successes are complemented by systematic work within the framework of the national Environmental Well-being project. Large-scale reclamation of silt fields in Kazan continues, and the second stage of clearing the Melekeski riverbed in Naberezhnye Chelny has begun. It is important to note that over the past 30 years we have managed to achieve a fundamental result: the growth of the republic's economy by more than 3 times is accompanied by a decrease in air emissions by 25.6% and a reduction in the discharge of polluted waters by 67.9%. This proves that the course towards the "green" modernization of industry has been chosen correctly and has a real effect," the First Deputy Prime Minister stressed.

Rustam Nigmatullin outlined several important tasks for the environmental industry in 2026 and thanked the department's staff for their effective work and dedication to their chosen profession.

"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all employees of the industry for their effective work. Your professionalism, dedication, and responsible attitude to preserving Tatarstan's forest resources and environmental well-being deserve deep respect and appreciation."
