Today, at the joint final board of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan Public Joint Stock Company Organic Synthesis, and the A. I. Shchepovskikh Regional Public Foundation for Environmental Protection and the Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society in the Republic of Tatarstan.
The document is aimed at implementing tasks to preserve and improve the ecological condition of the republic's rivers and reservoirs, including as part of the reconstruction of protective forest belts along the shores of water bodies located on the territory of Tatarstan.
The measures will help reduce pollution of rivers and reservoirs and increase the absorption of greenhouse gases. The project includes educational tasks aimed at improving the level of environmental education and environmental culture of citizens.
The Agreement was signed by Azat Ziganshin, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Airat Safin, General Director of Kazanorgsintez PJSC, Dmitry Shiller, Chairman of the Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society in the Republic of Tatarstan, and the Executive Director of the A. I. Shchepovskikh Regional Public Foundation for Environmental Protection, Andrey Agarkov.
The agreement is concluded for a period of 5 years with automatic prolongation.
The Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan is actively working to preserve Tatarstan's water bodies. So, since 2023, the agency, together with the Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society in the Republic of Tatarstan, has been implementing the Free Current project for the rehabilitation of the Kazanka River. In three years, 76 tree blocks have been dismantled, 900 bags of garbage have been collected, and 900 km of the river have been cleared.
In 2025, a pilot project for the reconstruction of forest plantations in the Kazanka River water protection zone was launched. 8 thousand oak and spruce saplings have been planted in the Arsky district. This year, the Ministry plans to reconstruct forest plantations on an area of 15 hectares in the territory of the Kargalinsky rural settlement of the Chistopolsky district.
