Inspectors of the Prikamsky Department of the Ministry of Ecology conducted a lesson on "Eco-friendly consumption" for middle and high school students of the Monashevsky School of the Mendeleevsky district.
During the lesson, the children learned how to develop environmental education and how to start the path of an informed consumer. The students were clearly explained how saving water and electricity is directly related to the preservation of natural resources and climate. Vivid examples are given: turning off the water while brushing your teeth saves up to 10 liters at a time, and one unplugged 100-watt bulb per month "winds up" an extra 70 kWh.
The inspectors said that billions of tons of municipal solid waste are generated annually in the world, and only a small part of it is sent for recycling. Using the example of a plastic bottle that has been decomposing for hundreds of years, children realized the importance of sorting.
The children were told that new clothes and building materials can be made from recycled plastic, and not only paper, but also egg packaging from waste paper. Recycling one ton of paper saves about 20 trees and saves a huge amount of water and energy.
The lesson was held in the format of a live dialogue. The inspectors not only shared their knowledge, but also answered questions and asked the students about how they could apply eco-habits in their lives and at school.
At the end of the lesson, a short quiz was conducted on the material covered. The students of the Monastic School coped with the questions, demonstrating sincere interest and understanding of the topic.
Conducting such lessons is an important contribution to environmental education, which helps to raise a responsible generation, which contributes to achieving the goals of the national Environmental Well-being project.
