Heroes among us: the Ministry of Ecology of Tatarstan honored the participants of military operations

24 February 2026, Tuesday

Today, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan hosted a solemn event dedicated to honoring those for whom the defense of the Motherland has become a matter of honor. Veterans of military operations, active staff, as well as relatives and friends of the heroes gathered in the hall to share the joy of returning and honor the memory of those who forever remained at their combat post.

Igor Yakovlevich Egorov, Senior specialist of the 3rd category of the South-Eastern Territorial Administration, was rewarded with a Letter of Thanks from the Ministry of Ecology for his courage and heroism shown during a special military operation. In 2022, he went to the front line without hesitation, and today, having returned to his native department, he continues to serve the republic, paying special attention to the education of young people. Igor Yakovlevich is an active participant in the BatyrlarHeroes of Tatarstan program.

"The Batyrlar program is a unique opportunity for children to hear about the exploits of our contemporaries firsthand," says Igor Yakovlevich. "In eco–lessons, I try to show students that protecting nature and protecting the Motherland are inseparable concepts. Both require courage, responsibility and love for their land."

Gratitude was also expressed to Dinar Rinatovich Galiaskarov, a leading specialist in the Department of Hydrocarbon Geology, who showed professionalism during the fighting in the Syrian Arab Republic.

A veteran of the Ministry Salimgareev Shamil Kasymovich was rewarded with a letter of thanks for his heroism and courage in fulfilling his international duty in Afghanistan.

Shamil Kasymovich, noted for his exploits in Afghanistan, together with his wife Guzel Mirzayanovna, raised a worthy son, Lieutenant Colonel Ramil Shamilevich, who is now at the forefront of a special military operation.

"When the SMO started and our son ended up there, Shamil Kasymovich gave a shout to both colleagues from the Ministry of Ecology and his friends. The response was amazing," said Shamil Kasymovich's wife.

Thanks to this initiative, it was possible to raise more than 1.8 million rubles to purchase the necessary equipment for combat missions, from chainsaws for the construction of fortifications to communications and camouflage equipment.

With special sorrow, the participants of the ceremony honored the memory of Evgeny Vladimirovich Karpenko, an inspector of the Volga-Kama directorate, who died while performing a combat mission in March 2024. Alsu Talgatovna, the widow of the hero, and her son Roman, who were present at the event, received memorable gifts and words of deep appreciation from the Minister of Ecology.

"His life is an example of selfless service to the Fatherland. Evgeny Vladimirovich was a reliable comrade for us and will remain in our memory a hero who glorified our Republic.
His feat will forever remain an example of courage and heroism for many generations of Tatarstan citizens. A low bow to the mothers who were able to raise such sons and daughters. Thank you very much!" the head of the department emphasized, recalling that Evgeny Vladimirovich was awarded the Order of Courage posthumously.

Evgeny Vladimirovich's son followed in his father's footsteps and now he is a cadet of the Kazan Higher Tank Command Order of Zhukov of the Red Banner School.

As the Minister of Ecology noted, the department has organized systematic work to support military personnel since the first days of its operation. Humanitarian aid shipments are regularly formed and dispatched, including necessary items, food, medicines and special equipment. In the Year of Military and Labor Valor, which was declared in Tatarstan by decree of the Head of the Republic, a new humanitarian cargo has already been sent to the front line.

"Our help is not a one–time action, but a permanent job. We keep in touch with the fighters, learn about specific needs and respond promptly. This is the least we can do for those who are currently defending our country," the head of the ministry stressed.

The ceremony ended with a minute of silence.
