25 December 2025, Thursday

The finalists of the republican contest "Eco-leader-2025" were awarded today in Kazan at the Pyramid Sports Complex. The competition has been held on behalf of the Head of Tatarstan, Rustam Nurgalievich Minnikhanov, since 2004. Enterprises, educational institutions, public organizations, Tatarstan citizens and journalists who are not indifferent to environmental issues take part in it.

This year, the competition has received more than 230 works. Tatarstan Minister of Ecology Alexander Shadrikov thanked all the participants for their active citizenship and concern for environmental issues and conveyed the words of gratitude from the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia Alexander Kozlov. "Today we are not just choosing the eco-leaders of the year, we are summing up the results and saying words of great gratitude to all our residents for our joint fruitful creative work," the head of the environmental protection agency addressed the participants of the competition. Only together with you can we make this world cleaner and improve the ecological well-being of our republic. Thank you all for the work we are doing together."

Alexander Shadrikov noted that for the fifth year in a row, the Republic has become the winner of the All-Russian campaign "Water of Russia" within the framework of the national project "Environmental well-being".

The winners of the competition were determined in 20 nominations – these are social movements, enterprises, schools, preschool institutions, inspectors, and journalists.

Awarding the winners in the nomination "Public associations and citizens", the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov noted: "We all want to live in a comfortable, environmentally friendly environment. The aim of the competition is to involve more people in environmental issues",

The best state inspectors in the field of environmental protection were awarded by Igor Egorov, hero of the SMO and participant of the Batyrlar program. He congratulated the winners and quoted Mikhail Prishvin: "The one who protects nature protects his homeland," our writer used to say. On the SMO front line, our guys are defending their great Homeland, which is called Russia. They are also defending their small Homeland, the land where they were born and raised. Today it is especially pleasant and exciting for me to award the best state inspectors, because these people do a lot for the environment, for their small Homeland."

"This competition is an opportunity to thank you for your attitude to the environment, because the health of each of us depends on it. Health depends on 50% of a person's lifestyle, 20% on heredity, 10% on the state of health care and 20% on the environment," Marina Patyashina, Head of the Rospotrebnadzor Department for the Republic of Tatarstan, said when awarding the winners in the Organizations and Individual Entrepreneurs nomination.

The awards were presented to eco-leaders-journalists by the head of the Tatarstan branch of the Russian Ecological Society, Azat Ziganshin. He noted that a lot of work has been done in the environmental field over the past 8 years and thanked the team of the Ministry of Ecology.

"If we compare with 1998, the gross regional product of the Republic has grown by more than 3 times, while the negative impact on atmospheric air has decreased by almost 25.6%, and discharges into water have decreased by almost 68%. Thank you for such work, this is the well-being of our residents and the Republic as a whole!"
