55 thousand messages from schoolchildren were reviewed by the Ministry of Ecology of Tatarstan in the framework of the School Ecopatrol competition

18 November 2025, Tuesday

Today, the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan summed up the results of the School Ecopatrol competition for 2024-2025, which is held in support of the national Environmental Well-being project.

Over the 11 years of the project's existence, initiated by Rustam Minnikhanov, the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, the competition has proved its effectiveness. Young environmentalists have sent 55,000 reports to the Ministry about illegal landfills and violations in the field of waste management. Each such appeal is not just a score in the competition, but a real step towards restoring order. Thanks to the prompt work of environmentalists, almost 100% of the detected violations were eliminated.

This season, 3,181 applications were received for the competition, and the award ceremony brought together the most active participants from all over the republic.

The ceremony was held in an informal and festive atmosphere. In addition to the official part, an interactive program was prepared for schoolchildren: a science show, photo zones, a slow-motion camera and cognitive sections "Morphology" and "Find a pair".

The winners were determined in the nominations "The most active student", "The most active class", "The most active school" and "The best municipal district".

The solemn event was attended by Alexander Shadrikov, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Nazip Khazipov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan on Ecology, Nature Management, Agroindustrial and Food Policy, Dmitry Shiller, Head of the Tatarstan branch of the Russian Geographical Society, Dmitry Trusov, Deputy Volga Interregional Prosecutor, Roman Terekhov, Kazan Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor, Almaz, Tatar Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor Valiakhmetov and other honored guests.

In his opening remarks, Alexander Shadrikov thanked the students and teachers for participating in the competition: "I am glad to see a full house of our most active students. Words of gratitude to you, your teachers and parents. You not only participate yourself, but also lead your friends and classmates. Together we make our environment better. Today, for the 11th time, we are summing up the results and naming the winners, those who showed great results. Many thanks to everyone!"

Dmitry Trusov, Deputy of the Volga Interregional Prosecutor, wished the students further success: "Really active and caring guys gathered in the hall, for whom the cause of nature protection is of great importance. You don't just love nature, but you do everything possible to protect it. I wish you further success and victories, and thank you for your initiative and hard work."

"This competition is not just about participating in initiatives, it is about building self–awareness. Thanks to all the teachers who guided their students on the path of nature conservation. By presenting awards to the winners, I hope that they will become an incentive to continue your active environmental work," said Roman Terekhov, Kazan Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor.

Tatar interdistrict environmental Prosecutor Almaz Valiakhmetov also expressed gratitude to the guys for their contribution to the preservation of the republic's ecology: "Your work is not just competitive points, it is a real contribution to the ecological well–being of our republic. Your activity and determination are the best guarantee that nature conservation is in safe hands."

To participate in the competition, it was enough for students to download a mobile application, register and send photos and videos with violations of waste management rules. Each recorded case earned points, and environmentalists took the necessary measures to eliminate the identified violations. Almost 100% of the landfill claims have been resolved.
