The progress of a large-scale project to clear the Melekeski riverbed in Naberezhnye Chelny was inspected by Ilnur Nasretdinov, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, and Mars Valiev, Director of the NPO Geocenter of the Republic of Tatarstan. The event is being implemented within the framework of the federal project "Water of Russia" of the national project "Environmental Well-being".
Currently, active work is underway at the facility: a dredger, excavators, a bulldozer and a dump truck are involved in removing sediments. To date, more than 36% of the planned volume of work has already been completed.
It should be recalled that this is the second stage of work at Melekeska. The first stage was successfully completed in 2022, when 1.5 km of the riverbed was cleared in the support area of the Nizhnekamsk reservoir. As part of the second stage, a 3.1 km section will be cleared. In 2025, it is planned to extract more than 34 thousand cubic meters of bottom sediments. The work started in July and will be continued until 2027. 318.8 million rubles have been allocated for the entire period of the second stage of the project (2025-2027). To ensure the smooth running of the work, in September the Republic of Tatarstan received advanced financing in the amount of 34.1 million rubles. The work is carried out by the contractor company LLC "Jadran-Stroy", with which a state contract has been concluded. The project provides for the removal of bottom sediments by a hydromechanical method using modern technology.
The complex of works on ecological rehabilitation of the Melekeski River is aimed at improving the condition of the water body, restoring its ecosystem and providing a favorable environment for residents of Naberezhnye Chelny.
