The Federal Agency for Water Resources held a regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group on regulating the operating modes of reservoirs in the Volga-Kama Cascade via video conference.
Almaz Tugushev, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, took part in the meeting on behalf of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The issue of establishing the operating modes of the hydroelectric power plants of the reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade for the period from October 11 to November 10, 2025 was considered.
The level of the Kuibyshev reservoir in the period from September 11 to November 10 decreased with an intensity of 1.2 cm per day and as of October 8 in the area of Kazan (Upper Uslon hydropost) amounted to 51.95 m BS.
For the period from October 11 to November 10, Rosvodresursy proposed the following modes of operation of hydroelectric dams:
Kuibyshev: in the mode of ensuring the established operating mode of the Volgograd and Saratov reservoirs hydroelectric power plants (with an average discharge rate of 5200-5400 cubic meters/s over the period);
Nizhnekamsk: with the maintenance of the water level in the upper reaches of the hydroelectric dam at 63.0-63.75 m BS.
At the proposed cost, the level of the Kuibyshev reservoir will gradually decrease (1-1.5 cm/day), which is typical for this period of the year.
The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan supported the proposals on the modes of operation of hydroelectric reservoirs.
The next meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group on regulating the operating modes of the reservoirs of the Volga-Kama Cascade will be held in the first decade of November 2025.
