Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, signed an order on the allocation of additional funding for the rehabilitation of water bodies. According to the document, in 2025 the Republic of Tatarstan will receive an additional 34.1 million rubles for the ecological rehabilitation of the Melekeski River in Naberezhnye Chelny.
This funding is part of a large-scale environmental program within the framework of the federal project "Water of Russia", which is part of the national project "Environmental well-being". The federal project combined the directions of the previous projects "Improving the Volga River" and "Preserving unique water bodies".
The allocated funds will supplement the funding limits already agreed for 2025 for the project "Clearing the Melekeski Riverbed in Naberezhnye Chelny".
It should be recalled that within the boundaries of Naberezhnye Chelny, the length of the Melekeski River is 7.5 km, of which it is planned to equip 4.6 km in the central part of the city. The clearing project is divided into two sections: the first (1.5 km) in the support area of the Nizhnekamsk reservoir, has already been implemented in 2022.
The second section (3.1 km) is scheduled to be cleared in 2025-2027. The total cost of work on the second site is 314 million rubles.
"The rehabilitation of the Melekeska River is another step in the comprehensive program for the rehabilitation of water bodies in our republic. The allocation by the Russian Government of advanced financing in the amount of 34.1 million rubles will help us accelerate the work on clearing a 3.1-kilometer section of the river in Naberezhnye Chelny. This project does not just solve a local environmental problem, it is part of a large—scale federal initiative to improve the health of the Volga and its tributaries within the framework of the national Environmental Well-being project," said Alexander Shadrikov, Tatarstan's Minister of Ecology.
In addition to Tatarstan, the Vladimir Region (39.1 million rubles) for the clearing of the Kolp River and the Chechen Republic (62.9 million rubles) for the clearing of the Achkhu River will also receive additional funding. The total amount of additional financing is over 135 million rubles.
