An environmental campaign for the release of juvenile sterlet was held in the village of Betki, Tukayevsky district. The initiator of the event was SIBUR, and control over the release of fry was carried out by specialists from the Prikamsky and Zakamsky departments of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rosrybolovstvo and the Committee on Biological Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Local residents of the village of Betki also took part in the campaign. An educational program was organized for children, during which they talked about aquatic biological resources and the importance of sterlet for the Kama River, and also gave them the opportunity to independently release fry from special aquariums. As a result of the campaign, 213,000 fry were released into the Kama River. In addition, an eco-lesson on the topic "The second life of plastic" was held, where the children were introduced to products made from recycled plastic and shown how new useful things are created from plastic bottles.
It is worth noting that the sterlet of the Volga population is listed in the Red Books of Russia and Tatarstan and is an important link in the aquatic ecosystem. The harvesting of the Kama is a significant contribution to the restoration and protection of the region's biodiversity, which contributes to the achievement of the goals of the national project "Ecological Well-being". The place for fish release was chosen taking into account a good food supply and the absence of predators, which contributes to the successful adaptation of fry in the area of the village of Betki.
