The Federal Agency for Water Resources held a regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group on regulating the operating modes of reservoirs in the Volga-Kama Cascade via video conference.
Almaz Tugushev, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, took part in the meeting on behalf of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The meeting considered the issue of establishing the operating modes of the hydroelectric power plants of the reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade for the period from September 11 to October 10, 2025.
As of September 4, the water level at the Upper Uslon hydroelectric station of the Kuibyshev reservoir is 52.26 m BS, in the upper reaches of the hydroelectric complex — 52.33 m BS.
Nizhnekamsk reservoir is operating in bypass mode.
Rosvodresursy proposed the following modes of operation of hydroelectric reservoirs:
Kuibyshev: in the mode of ensuring the established operating mode of the Volgograd and Saratov reservoirs hydroelectric power plants (with an average discharge rate of 5200-5400 cubic meters/s over the period);
Nizhnekamsk: with the maintenance of the water level in the upper reaches of the hydroelectric dam at 63.0-63.75 m BS.
The Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan supported the modes of operation of hydroelectric reservoirs proposed by Rosvodresursy.
In general, in the spring-summer period of 2025, the level of the Kuibyshev reservoir was maintained at levels favorable for water management, navigation, and reproduction of aquatic biological resources in other sectors of the economy.
Rosvodresursy instructions on setting the operating modes of hydroelectric reservoirs will be published on the official website of Rosvodresursy.
The next meeting will be held in early October.
