A large-scale Clean Air campaign is underway in Tatarstan, aimed at reducing the level of air pollution from motor vehicles. The campaign started on June 1 in support of the national project "Environmental well-being".
As part of the joint work of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan and the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, another raid took place today at the Malinovka traffic police post in the Verkhneuslonsky district.
"We annually check vehicles for the environmental friendliness of exhaust gases. Operation "Clean Air" is implemented to prevent the negative effects of car exhaust gases on atmospheric air. With the help of gas analyzers, we check exhaust gases for carbon monoxide content for gasoline-powered cars and for smokiness for diesel ones. If the measurement results reveal excess amounts of regulatory substances, then administrative protocols are drawn up," Nikita Maslov, Head of the Atmospheric Air Protection Department at the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan, said about the operation.
As of August 1, 2,445 vehicles were checked in the republic, including:
Excess of the established emission standards of pollutants were detected in 53 vehicles (2.1% of all tested), of which:
The excess was detected in 41 gasoline-powered vehicles, 6 diesel-powered vehicles, and 5 propane-powered vehicles. No excess has been detected in vehicles running on methane. 40 protocols on administrative offenses were drawn up against violators and explanatory work was carried out.
Including today at the Malinovka checkpoint, environmentalists checked 9 vehicles, one vehicle was found to be overweight.
This year's control events covered 23 municipal districts of Tatarstan. Exhaust gas toxicity measurements are carried out using a modern gas analyzer, which makes it possible to objectively assess the condition of vehicles and promptly identify violators.
Explanatory work is carried out with car owners who have been found to be exceeding such violations, and protocols on administrative offenses are drawn up in accordance with the law. Violators face a fine of 500 rubles or a warning.
If we look at the statistics of previous years, we can note a decrease in the proportion of violators. So, in 2024, in the framework of similar raids, excess was detected on average in 2.7% of vehicles.
"According to the results of five years, the content of harmful substances in vehicles is noticeably decreasing. Drivers take a responsible approach to the maintenance of their car. The fleet of cars is changing, old cars are being replaced with new ones that have a higher environmental class," Nikita Maslov noted.
In July 2025, state inspectors of the Ministry of Ecology, together with traffic police officers, conducted raids in different regions of the republic:
