Today, the Federal Agency for Water Resources held a meeting on the establishment of operating modes for reservoirs in the Volga-Kama Cascade. Almaz Tugushev, Deputy Minister of Ecology from the Republic of Tatarstan, took part in the meeting.
In view of the increase in inflow due to prolonged rains, Rosvodresursy proposed to establish from May 24 to May 29 the operating mode of the Kuibyshev reservoir with an average discharge rate of 12,000 cubic meters/s over the period.
After May 29, it is planned to reduce waste costs. The
further mode of operation of the Lower Volga reservoirs will be determined taking into account the hydrological situation.
In the coming week, the reservoir level will gradually rise. By mid-June, it is planned to fill the Kuibyshev reservoir to 53 m BS. As of May 23, the level of the Kuibyshev reservoir in the lower reaches of the hydroelectric complex is 52.38 m BS, at the Upper Uslon hydro post — 52.51 m BS.
The modes of operation of hydroelectric dams are published on the Rosvodresursy website. The next meeting is scheduled for May 27.
