11 November 2013, Monday
Today, the International Day of Energy Conservation is celebrated all over the world. The main aim of this holiday is to attract attention of authorities and public to the rational use of resources and development of renewable energy sources. This day became officially memorable in 2008 on the initiative of the international ecological network “School project on application of resources and energy” (SPARE). That year about 20 countries participated in the first celebration of the Day of Energy Conservation.
Energy conservation is advantageous not only from the economic point of view, but it also allows to reduce the burden on the environment and to prevent ecological pollution. On this day in every country, including Russia, issue-related events are held along with conferences, exhibitions, and campaigns. People are told about the benefits of energy conservation and the importance of such events.
