Activists of the youth environmental movement "It will be Clean" of the Republic of Tatarstan returned from Anapa, where, as part of the delegation of the All-Russian Ecological Public Movement "Ecosystem", they participated for a week in the aftermath of the oil spill.
The team from Tatarstan included students and volunteers from KNRTU, the Russian University of Justice, the Agrarian University and Naberezhnye Chelny Pedagogical University.
The activists worked on the Bugaz spit. They worked daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with short breaks. The main task was cleaning coastal areas and sifting sand.
"Emergency response is not easy volunteering, it is not organizing a clean–up day. It was a rewarding experience working in a very friendly team. I am glad that I participated in such a big and important cause and brought benefits to the country and people. Of course, there is still a big work front ahead. But I hope that such situations will not happen again in the future," said Alexander Paygachkin, a volunteer at the environmental NGO It Will Be Clean.
