This decision was made by Rosvodresursy at a meeting of the interdepartmental working group.
The meeting participants agreed on the volume of discharge costs of the waterworks for the next three weeks. It was decided to maintain the previously established operating modes of the waterworks due to the warm weather anomaly and the projected shortage of water reserves in the snow cover.
Thus, Roshydromet indicates that the thickness of the ice cover in all reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade ranges from 13 to 49 cm. However, the thickness of the snow cover, which cannot form due to warm weather and prolonged thaws, does not exceed 30 centimeters. The water reserve in the snow cover is 84% of the average annual values. For example, in January 2024, this figure was 121%.
In the conditions of a warm weather anomaly and a projected shortage of water reserves in the snow cover, it is advisable to generally maintain the previously established operating modes of waterworks for the next two decades," said Dmitry Savostitsky, Head of the Department for Water Management Regulation of Rosvodresursy.
The further operation of the waterworks will be considered at a meeting of the Group in early February.
