Ten years of the "School eco-patrol": 51 thousand messages from schoolchildren about the cleanliness of Tatarstan

28 November 2024, Thursday

Today, the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan summed up the results of the tenth anniversary competition "School Eco-patrol", which is held in support of the national project "Ecology". Over the ten years of the project's existence, initiated by the President of the Republic Rustam Minnikhanov, young environmentalists have sent more than 50,000 messages to the Ministry about illegal landfills and violations of waste management rules.

The anniversary award ceremony brought together participants from kindergartens and schools throughout the republic. The winners were determined in the nominations "The most active student", "The most active class", "The most active school" and "The best municipal district". This year, 3,114 applications were received for the competition.

The solemn event was attended by Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Alexander Shadrikov, Hero of Russia Rasim Baksikov, Head of the Tatarstan branch of the Russian Ecological Society Azat Ziganshin, Head of the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society in the Republic of Tatarstan Dmitry Shiller and other honored guests.

Alexander Shadrikov stressed the importance of the project for the formation of ecological culture among the younger generation. He noted that the success of the "School Eco-patrol" is an indicator of the growing awareness of responsibility for the environment among children and adolescents of Tatarstan.

Speaking about the role of teachers, the Minister expressed his deep gratitude to them for their contribution to fostering respect for nature: "We have said more than once – ecology unites us! Words of great gratitude to our teachers, our educators. You're doing a great job. You do not just teach, you educate and develop in children a love of nature, and therefore a love of the Motherland. I always say: those who take care of the world around them, they definitely treat people with a soul and kindness – to neighbors, friends, relatives. That is why it is so important to bring up kindness and the best qualities in our children, to invest in their future!"

Dmitry Shiller congratulated the winners, calling their participation in the competition "the highest form of manifestation of love and patriotism: "They say, don't judge by words, but judge by deeds. It is your participation in the competition that shows your love and desire to make the world a better place. Thank you very much!"

Rasim Baksikov noted that the participation of schoolchildren in the fight for cleanliness contributes to the formation of a respectful attitude towards nature and the prevention of environmental offenses. "Thanks to your efforts, we will have one, two, three, a huge number fewer poachers, because children need to be taught to do this, they need to understand that they need to love nature, their Homeland. There will be fewer people who disrespect nature." – the Hero of Russia noted.

Azat Ziganshin stressed the importance of uniting the efforts of various youth organizations in solving environmental problems: "It is encouraging to see that all our movements – the Unarmia, the Yunnats, the Young Guard, the Movement of the First, the Russian Geographical Society, school organizations – have all united as one big family, a big team that represent the interests of our republic and our country. Thank you very much for this! Thank you to your team for bringing us, the youth, and our children together!"

Let us recall that in order to participate in the competition, it was enough for students to download a mobile application, register and send photo and video materials with recorded violations of waste management rules. Each recorded case earned points, and environmentalists took the necessary measures to eliminate the identified violations. This year, the School Eco-patrol application is integrated into the convenient multiservice "I am a student", which greatly simplified participation in the competition. Today, all the winners received wonderful prizes - mobile phones, smart watches, cameras, tablets and telescopes.

The main purpose of the competition is to involve schoolchildren in practical work on environmental protection and the implementation of the goals of the national project "Ecology" in the field of environmental education and upbringing of the younger generation. The Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan expresses its deep gratitude to all participants for their active participation and contribution to the conservation of the nature of our region.
