32 thousand kilometers of shores were cleared across the country this year as part of the "Water of Russia" campaign
A press conference dedicated to the end of the season of the All-Russian campaign "Water of Russia" of the national project "Ecology" was held today. This year, more than 32 thousand kilometers of coasts were cleared throughout Russia, 20 thousand eco-educational events were held, which were attended by more than a million activists and volunteers from 89 regions of the country.
The Republic of Tatarstan has been participating in the campaign since 2019 and has already won three times. In 2023, 323 thousand people took part in coastal cleanup activities in Tatarstan, about 9 thousand km of shores were cleaned and 22 thousand cubic meters of garbage were collected.
In September, the All-Russian clean-up day "Green Russia" took place on Lake Izumrudny, which was attended by 300 Tatarstan residents. In the summer, the banks of the Kama River in Mendeleevsk were cleared. The cleaning became part of an interregional campaign that united Tatarstan, Bashkiria, Udmurtia, Perm Region and Samara Region.
During the press conference, plans were announced for the further development of the campaign and its integration into the new national project "Environmental Well-being". The inclusion of two events from the Republic of Tatarstan has been agreed upon in the federal project "Water of Russia" of the new national project. This is the clearing of the riverbeds of the Melekeski River in Naberezhnye Chelny and the Knox River with tributaries in Kazan.
The experts also discussed priority areas for the next 5 years, paying special attention to corporate volunteerism and the formation of a "green" economy model. The results of the campaign for 2024 will be announced on December 5, Volunteer Day.
Let us recall that the campaign "Water of Russia" is one of the largest volunteer environmental initiatives in the country, bringing together more than 10 million participants in all regions of the state. The water protection marathon has been held since 2014 as part of the national project "Ecology" by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation. Over the past years, the volunteers of "Water of Russia" have cleared more than 10,000 reservoirs of garbage, collected and removed about 92,000 KAMAZ trucks of garbage.
