Cleaning of unauthorized waste disposal sites is being completed in 37 Russian regions. Dangerous objects are located near populated areas where more than 10 million people live. This had a negative impact on people's lives, but thanks to the federal Clean Country project of the national Ecology project, you can now forget about the unpleasant neighborhood.
Now experts continue to eliminate 56 landfills with a total area of 960 hectares. This is comparable to the territory of 1,400 football fields.
When the work at the landfills is completed, the center for laboratory analysis and technical measurements will take samples of soil, water, and air at the facility. If the excess of the established maximum permissible concentrations persists, the work will not be accepted.
By the end of 2024, according to the federal Clean Country project of the national Ecology project, the number of landfills eliminated in Russia will reach 191.
Let us recall that as part of the implementation of the federal project in Tatarstan, disturbed lands were reclaimed by oil–containing pollution in the village of Shemordan of Sabinsky district, 2 landfills are in the village of Prosti in Nizhnekamsk district (15.14 ha) and in Menzelinsk (6 ha). The environmental living conditions of the population of about 815 thousand people have been improved. The Samosyrovsky landfill with an area of 14.14 hectares was also reclaimed, 342.9 thousand people felt the positive effect of the work. And since 2023, work has begun on another facility on Zavodskaya Street in the village of Shemordan, Sabinsky district.
"The federal Clean Country project will be replaced by General Cleaning. The aim of the project will also be to prevent environmental pollution and ensure the environmental safety of the population. At least 50 such facilities are expected to be liquidated on the territory of the Russian Federation, and their list will be formed and approved after the assessment and categorization of the facilities. 157.3 billion rubles have been allocated for these purposes. As part of the new federal project in Tatarstan, it is planned to reclaim the landfill in Nurlat with an area of 21.9 hectares," the Minister of Ecology Alexander Shadrikov said at a recent press conference with journalists.
As noted by the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia Alexander Kozlov, experts are now carefully examining the sites to identify crisis areas. "We plan to remove them at the expense of the federal budget. The rest of the facilities should be a priority for the heads of regions!" the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia stressed.
