Ecological experts cleaned everything up at the site of bitumen spillage

       Mass Saturday work was carried out today at the forestland of Derbyshki village in Kazan. About three hundred people came to remove the remaining bitumen and plant the trees on the territory. Participants included fellow workers of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, proponents of ecological public organizations including the All-Russian Public Organization “Russian Geographical Society”,  public organization “Help another one”, Interregional ecological organization “EKA”, Regional Department of Public Organization “Center for Ecological Culture and Politics”, students of Kazan (Volga) Federal University, Kazan State Agricultural University, Kazan National Research Technological University, Kazan State Technological University (Kazan Aviation Institute) named after Tupolev, citizens of Derbyshki village, summer residents of horticultural society “Medik”, and journalists. Hard-to-access places were cleaned from bitumen in the framework of the event, and about 1,200 seedlings of pines, mountain ashes, and birches provided by the State Public Establishment “Suburban forestry enterprise” and Landscaping enterprise “Park-Service” were planted.

            The Ministry for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Artem Sidorov told during the journalistic interview that collection and removal of bitumen to the Industrial Company “Vozrozhdenie” ZAO have been arranged since July 2013. All in all, 375 truckloads of viscous material were removed. It makes up about 2,300 tons of bitumen. Artem Sidorov thanked everyone who participated in the process of bitumen collection and territory recovery.

       The following organizations were engaged for the purposes of bitumen liquidation: PMK-2, Municipal Unitary Enterprise “Municipal beautification”, Municipal Unitary Enterprise “Gormosty”, Municipal Unitary Enterprise “DREU” of Kirov district of Kazan,  Municipal Unitary Enterprise “Gorvodzelenkhoz” trust, “Kazdorstroy” OAO, “KMPO” OAO, Republican State Establishment “Road Traffic Safety”, “Kazan Specialized Administration “Hydrospetsstroy” ZAO, “Metelitsa” OOO, and individuals.  

        Today, soil was sampled on the territory of bitumen spillage by the Central Specialized Inspection for Analytical Control under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan. Before then, samples of air, soil on site and water in potable wells of horticultural society “Medik” were analyzed as well. Following the results, no violations were detected. According to Artem Sidorov, monitoring activities will be continued on this territory.
