In Tatarstan, the share of vehicles with a high content of pollutants in exhaust gases decreased 10 times due to the national project "Ecology"

According to the results of the ESG ranking of regions in 2022, conducted by the National Rating Agency together with Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Republic of Tatarstan took 2nd place, while in the environmental block of criteria it took 1st place. Ecology Minister Alexander Shadrikov reminded journalists about this today.

According to preliminary results for 2023, the Republic of Tatarstan is back in the top three. The Minister of Ecology stressed that such a result is a consequence of the systematic consolidated work of public authorities, science, business and the population. When compiling the ESG ranking, the achievements of the region in terms of environmental education, interaction with business, science and much more are taken into account.

Since 2023, the ecology block, including the results of the implementation of the national project "ecology", has taken a key place in the compilation of the ESG ranking of regions. The ranking takes into account the success of the region in three key areas – ecology, social policy and public administration. All spheres are connected by a single goal – to evaluate the work of government, business, science and society to ensure the well-being and comfort of residents.

Alexander Shadrikov noted that all these areas have been successfully implemented in Tatarstan. The Ministry of Ecology is the coordinator on key environmental topics, but any decision, any project is being worked out with scientists from the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan and the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation. "All pilot activities of the national Ecology project implemented in Tatarstan are prepared only with the approval and approval of scientists. Previously, all technical specifications and justifications for the expediency of carrying out certain works at the facility are considered at the scientific and technical council of the Ministry.  Only after the approval of the scientists, we begin to develop the terms of reference and design estimates, the results of which are also approved at the NTS. At the moment, we are implementing a research project on the Kazanka River together with scientists," the speaker said.

As part of the scientific monitoring of the Kuibyshev reservoir, last year, after a deep modernization, the Flamingo research vessel went on an expedition. A survey of the Kuibyshev reservoir was conducted from Zelenodolsk to Tetyushy.  This year, the vessel is preparing for a joint expedition with the participation of scientists from the Institute of Ecology and Subsoil Use of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan and representatives of the company "Marine Environmental Protection Complexes and Systems".

Within the framework of cooperation with science and other departments, both water bodies and atmospheric air are being monitored.

On June 6, the first joint raid with Rostransnadzor this year took place as part of Operation Clean Air. The main goal is to prevent the negative impact of vehicles on the atmospheric air.

Operation Clean Air has been carried out jointly with the State Traffic Inspectorate since 1983, and since this year RosTransNadzor has joined the raids.

"According to our research, since 1994, the share of vehicles with a high content of pollutants in exhaust gases has decreased by 10 times!  (from 27.5% in 1994 to 2.7% in 2023.) This is due to the improvement of fuel quality, the transition to gas, as well as the replacement of the old fleet of cars with new ones that are more "environmentally friendly".  I would like to note that such a positive example of Tatarstan has been replicated in other regions of the country since last year," said the head of the environmental protection agency.
