Filling stations of Nizhnekamsk will be equipped with recuperation systems

8 October 2013, Tuesday
Today, the Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Artem Sidorov visited Nizhnekamsk, where he participated in the meeting regarding instrumentation of filling stations located on the territory of the city with systems for trapping and recovery of the steam of motor fuel for 2013-2015. The event took place in the framework of fulfillment of the order of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The project is aimed at minimization of the amount of discharge of toxic and cancerous substances into the air.
It is planned to implement the project in two stages. The first stage covers Nizhnekamsk together with Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny and Almetyevsk. The schedule of events regarding fulfillment of this order has been elaborated including installation of special-purpose equipment at 21 out of 29 filling stations located on the territory of Nizhnekamsk municipal district. In the nearest future the remaining filling stations will be included into this list.
Nizhnekamsk is among constituent entities whose territory is considered one of the “most challenging” from ecological point of view due to strong concentration of large petrochemical and oil refining facilities. A considerable share of discharges accounts for filling stations as well. This is confirmed by the data obtained in the course of monitoring that annually registers excessive maximum allowable concentration of pollutants present in discharges of filling stations. A new system will allow to improve ecological state in the city, as well as to minimize the damage inflicted on man’s health.
