The exhibition consists of seven unique multi-touch objects, where you can learn not only general information about the snow leopard in Russia, but also see the world through its eyes. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to hear the voice of this amazing animal and even touch it, stroke it thanks to new technologies.
Guests of the exposition will also have an amazing chance to see the world through the eyes of an invisible cat. This became possible thanks to the use of the first virtual reality helmet in Russia, which is made in the form of the head of this animal. A special helmet was made on a 3D printer. The Minister of Ecology Alexander Shadrikov also visited the exhibition today. Natalia Tornqvist, President of the Russian charitable foundation "Rebirth of Nature", also attended the opening.
The exhibition is organized by the Interregional Association "Center for the Study and Conservation of the snow Leopard "Irbis" with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Let us recall that the snow leopard is listed on the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and has the status of a rare or endangered species in all 12 countries of its modern range.
There are about 90 individuals left in Russia, the majority of which are recorded on the territory of the Altai Republic in the Sailyugemsky National Park (45 individuals). The snow leopard is among the 13 priority wildlife sites of the federal project "Conservation of biological diversity and development of ecological tourism" of the national project "Ecology".
The snow leopard is especially significant for the Republic of Tatarstan. The winged leopard is the symbol of our republic, it is our coat of arms.
The Ministry of Ecology of Tatarstan is implementing a project to create a center for the study of rare species of cats. According to the project, the Ak Bars Center in Tatarstan will focus on studying the physical and genetic abilities of animals. Scientists at Kazan Federal University are maintaining their cryobank, which will be used to preserve biomaterials of rare species of cats.
The continuation of the work started in the Republic of Tatarstan on the creation of the Ak Bars Center is the work carried out on behalf of the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Nurgalievich Minnikhanov, to assist the Government of the Altai Republic in creating the Snow Leopard Center for the Conservation of Biological Diversity.
