The Expert Council of the Crystal Compass Award highly appreciated the project to revive the Volga-Kama Saker falcon population. It entered the top three winners in the nomination "The best social and information project for the preservation of natural and historical and cultural heritage".

The diplomas of the finalists were presented at the award ceremony, which took place at the Moscow International House of Music. Ilnur Hakimov, Head of the Land Resources Protection Department, and Andrei Agarkov, Executive Director of the A.I. Shchepovskikh Public Foundation for Environmental Protection Assistance,  took part in the awarding ceremony.

Let us recall that in 2023, with the support of SIBUR, a unique project of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan on the revival of Red Book Saker falcons was launched. The main stages of the project were the delivery of falcons from the Moscow region, the installation of hacks, the organization of a volunteer camp to ensure the feeding and safety of chicks and their release into their natural habitat. The implementation of the project made it possible to increase the population of rare species of falcons, accumulate experience for subsequent similar projects, and also provided prerequisites for the revival of the Volga-Kama Saker falcon population, the last nesting of which was recorded in the republic in 1974. The project is planned to be continued this year.

For reference: "Crystal Compass" — a prestigious international award, which has been awarded since 2012 for outstanding achievements and unique projects aimed at preserving the natural and historical and cultural heritage of Russia.
