27 April 2024, Saturday

A Central clean-up day was held in the Noksinsky Forest today. More than 600 people took part in it, who collected 116 bags of garbage in the eco-quest format. A total of 154 teams took part in the competition. Employees of departments, activists of the "It will Be Clean" movement, members of the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society in Tatarstan, students and all concerned Tatarstan residents who came as families to bring cleanliness and order to the Noksinsky forest. The place was chosen for a reason. The eco-event is the first stage of a comprehensive project to improve the Noksa River, planned on the initiative of the Russian Ecological Society.

Exercises, workshops for the whole family, a concert program and a field kitchen. And the sunny weather and great mood created the atmosphere of this eco-day. Participants Rustam Nurgalievich Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, welcomed the central clean-up day. The head of the republic talked with activists of environmental organizations, who told about their projects, paid special attention to young soldiers and Red Army soldiers and launched a clean-up day. "We are gathered here today, and this is a wonderful place, we have a lot of beautiful places in the republic as a whole. There are a lot of water and forest resources in the region, and we ourselves must monitor their condition and protect them," the Head of RT stressed.

"I am very grateful to our volunteers — they not only put parks and forests in order, clean up garbage, but also do preventive work — in schools, in other organizations," he added. Rustam Nurgalievich noted that ecology begins with each of us and we ourselves must monitor the state of Tatarstan's natural resources.  Together with the volunteers, Rustam Minnikhanov took part in planting trees and shrubs.

For three hours, residents of the Republic participated in workshops on making eco-bags, collected birdhouses to hang them right there in the forest, listened to a lecture on separate garbage collection and were fortified with delicious tea and buckwheat porridge in the field kitchen. The participating teams cleaned up the Noksinsky forest, simultaneously sorting the garbage into fractions. By joint efforts, 118 bags of garbage were collected: 27 with plastic, 30 with glass, 61 bags of mixed garbage.

"Traditionally, we remove those locations that our residents claim. The most important thing in our work together with our Tatarstan citizens is to bring cleanliness and order. It depends only on us what our Republic, our city, district, and house will be like.  This is the event that unites us, ecology unites us," said Alexander Shadrikov, Minister of Ecology. He together with young people planted young Christmas trees and communicated with activists of the "It will Be Clean" movement.

Let us recall that the clean-up was held within the framework of the sanitary and ecological two-month period and the Eco-spring 2024 competition. In the first four weeks, 125 thousand people have already come to the clean-up days. Thanks to the joint efforts, almost 50 thousand cubic meters of solid household waste were exported to landfills.

The winners of the Central Clean-up day were:

The 3rd place was taken by the Barsiki team of the Kazan Petrochemical College;

2nd place for the "DD Osama" team of Kazan Energy University;

The 1st place belongs to the family team "Eco-rescuers". They have become the most active eco-family.
