Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan

A territorial conference on selection of delegates for participation in the IV All-Russian Meeting for Environment Protection was held in Kazan. Subject to the quota, determined for the Republic of Tatarstan by the order of the Federal Service for Supervision of Nature Resources; 52 delegates from the Republic of Tatarstan will participate in the Meeting. They include fellow workers of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage for the Republic of Tatarstan, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Products of the Republic of Tatarstan, Public Chamber of the Republic of Tatarstan, heads and ecological specialists of the companies of industrial complex implementing the most advanced technologies, representatives of municipalities, proponents of public ecological movement, representatives of science and education, as well as nature protection authorities.

The Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Artem Sidorov acknowledged that current year that has been declared by the President of the Russian Federation the Year for Environment Protection, became the key year for all ecological specialists of the country. Considering the fact that the level of ecological education and awareness of the population is the critical factor in assurance of ecological well-being, the year 2013 in the Republic of Tatarstan is held under the sign of the Year for Environmental Culture and Nature Protection.

This year great work of the concerned ministries, authorities, local authorities, public organizations is conducted in the Republic, and it is aimed at reduction of negative impact on the environment, enhancement of efficiency of the system of ecological education and awareness of the republican population.

An ecological cluster was formed in the Republic of Tatarstan including the following elements:

- large companies implementing long-term programs of nature protection events and having considerable influence on reduction of man-induced impact;

- municipal establishments ensuring sanitary and ecological safety of the territories;

- The Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Institute for the Problems of Ecology and Subsurface Resources Management, ensuring scientific support of activity in the field of nature protection;

- educational establishments on all levels, mainly, leading higher educational establishments of the Republic;

- federal and regional authorities engaged in ecological control and surveillance on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan;

- publicecologicalorganizations.

According to Artem Sidorov, today in the Republic of Tatarstan all necessary conditions are provided for successful realization of global tasks on nature protection and implementation of advanced technologies. The upcoming meeting will determine further ecological policy of the Russian Federation for the next years, and it will become a large-scale platform to exchange experience between constituent entities of the Russian Federation, to discuss global nature protection problems with participation of nation’s leadership, as well as to consolidate efforts to solve these problems.
