A sanitary and environmental two-month period starts in Tatarstan on April 1

30 March 2024, Saturday

Today, at a Saturday meeting at the Government House of the Republic of Tatarstan, Minister of Ecology of Tatarstan Alexander Shadrikov spoke about the upcoming sanitary and environmental two-month period. It traditionally starts on April 1st. Its main goal is the elimination of landfills and landscaping after winter.

So, in 2023, within the framework of a two-month period, all supervisory agencies revealed more than 8 thousand violations.  6890 of them were promptly eliminated, the rest within a year.  69% of all violations or 5.5 thousand are waste. By the end of the two-month period, 5,000 landfills or 89% had been removed.  According to the results of April and May 2023, fines and claims totaling 70.2 million rubles were filed.

As the analysis shows, the untimely removal of waste by a regional operator remains an urgent and problematic area, mainly the Management company "PZhKH".

"In total, within the framework of the two-month period of 2023, more than 520 thousand cubic meters of waste were taken to landfills (510 thousand cubic meters in 2022), 18 thousand pieces of equipment were involved, almost 650 thousand trees and shrubs were planted. 688 thousand residents of our republic took a direct part in all these works.  Thank you for such activity to all districts, enterprises and institutions!", - said the Minister of Ecology.

The environmental public reception received 4,900 questions within the framework of the 2023 two-month period. All of them have been resolved.

In the first three months of 2024, the Ministry received 785 complaints through various communication channels, of which 71 appeals came for unauthorized snow dumps and 296 for unauthorized waste disposal, mainly issues related to household and construction debris.

Alexander Shadrikov noted that all issues within the framework of the upcoming two-month period were discussed at zonal meetings with districts.

The areas of responsibility during this period are clearly defined.  Helicopter overflights and commission detours along the railway lanes are also traditionally planned.

"Spring is later this year, there was a lot of snow, the rivers are still standing. But we expect a flood any day now. Therefore, it is important to pay special attention to the facilities for the disposal of livestock waste and storage of agrochemicals.  If necessary, urgently put them in order. If violations are detected during the placement of these objects, they should be promptly eliminated. Let me remind you that the placement of waste and storage of fertilizers in the water protection zone is not allowed by the Water Code and entails heavy fines," the head of the environmental protection agency emphasized.

" Let's not wait for the snow to come down everywhere, we need to start putting things in order today so that all the main events can be completed before our main holiday – the Day of the Great Victory! By May 9, it is necessary to restore order in the Alleys of Glory, in the burial sites, to repair the obelisks where the names of the heroes – our grandfathers and great-grandfathers - are carved. This is a tribute to memory and respect, the duty of each of us!", concluded the report by Aleksand Shadrikov.
